Inheritance is an exploration of the multifaceted connections that bind us to our past, to our culture and to our shared experiences as women. It is an ode to tales of our ancestors, the legends and folklore that live in the curves of our DNA, and the strength that flows through our veins.
As a Latina artist, Cha draws inspiration from her own cultural inheritance, weaving it with the universal threads that speak to the common experiences of all women. In her figurative paintings, she explores the beauty, resilience and power that exists within every woman. To do this, she uses elements of nature to tell the visual story. The organic forms, plants and flowers, represent our interdependence with the natural world and the harmony we strive to achieve within ourselves. She hopes to capture the inherent connection between women and the environment, a connection that reflects the delicate balance of life, growth, and the perpetual transformation of our shared existence.
"Inheritance" is an invitation to reflect on the stories that echo within the chambers of our hearts, memories shared, and stories inherited from our mothers and grandmothers, passed down through generations. It is a testament to the cultural richness we carry within us, and the ability to create a shared narrative that bridges the gap between past and present, culture and universality, and dream and reality.
